Average US 30-Year Mortgage Rate Rises to 3.45 Percent

ortgage giant Freddie Mac said Thursday the average for the benchmark 30-year fixed-rate mortgage rose to 3.45 percent from 3.42 percent last week. The average rate is down sharply from 4.04 percent a year ago.

Lee County sees surge in commercial permits in June

Lee County saw a big jump in general commercial permits in June. The county issued 22 of those permits last month, worth $22.3 million. Their value was up from $2.1 million in May and $1.9 million a year ago, according to the Lee County Department of Community Development.
